Creative inspiration for Women’s March posters

by Brian Dote | Jan 10, 2020 | Women’s March posters

If you are planning to join a Women’s March on January 18, we have some free posters you can download and print.

I was inspired to do this project after seeing free posters made available during the 2018 Brazilian general election to encourage voters not to vote for the far-right, openly sexist candidate, Jair Bolsonaro. I had become interested in Brazilian politics after making a side trip to the Amazon after visiting family in Colombia a few years ago.

My design inspiration came from looking at these wheelchair covers designed in collaboration with Barbie. I wanted the posters to be bright and clear, but not too polished. In my opinion, a lot of protest work loses power when it is too fussy. The motion in the lines and shapes reflect a sense of urgency. When designs have too many perfectly straight lines, they lose the living element that is so important in activism.

I’d love to see these signs in action at local Women’s Marches in San Francisco and Oakland, but ultimately my goal is to empower people to start or continue the conversation around equal rights.

So please go ahead and download and print these free Women’s March posters!
